Since my election just 8 weeks ago, a week hasn’t yet passed when I haven’t received a complaint about the poor quality Broadband capacity across the Vale.
It is a significant problem in the rural villages but is also relevant to parts of Barry and Llantwit, and I’m keen to hear from you about any broadband delivery or connection issues that you may have living and working in the Vale.
Concerns about the proposed Defence Technical College have been raised by Vale Parliamentary candidate Alun Cairns.
While the majority of residents support the college, there are worries about some aspects of that development and also of the adjoining Aerospace Park.
Alun Cairns has spoken to the developer, Metrix, and asked them to look again at the proposed access, some layout issues and noise concerns.
Alun said that the proposed new northern access road was worrying residents in Llanmaes and Boverton and the location of the proposed firing range was also of concern to nearby residents.
Metrix have said that they will do all they can to work with the community.
Alun said: “We have had robust discussions and I am pressing them again to consider some of the implications of their plan. There is a need to reach agreement with the affected communities about when the firing range will be operational. They also need to look at the timing of other noise intensive operations at the base.”
