CONSERVATIVE AM Alun Cairns is to seek reassurances from the Wales Ambulance Trust that every effort is being made to improve ambulance response times in the Vale – especially to life and death calls.

A meeting called by Cowbridge Town Council, and reported in The Gem, was told by Vale locality officer Gareth Davies, that only 60 per cent of Category A calls are responded to within eight minutes. The target figure is 75 per cent.

Bridgend Taskforce a Labour gimmick PDF Print E-mail

CONSERVATIVE AM Alun Cairns has criticised the new task force set up by Bridgend County Borough Council for being an all-Labour affair.

The council has set up the group consisting of the council’s Labour cabinet plus the two Labour MP’s and two Labour AM’s for the area.

Mr Cairns said that Bridgend was also served by AM’s from other parties.

Change needed to Gorseinon traffic lights PDF Print E-mail

RESIDENTS of Gorseinon who are complaining about new traffic lights in the town are being backed by South Wales West AM Alun Cairns.

Mr Cairns said that a number of constituents had complained to him about the long tailbacks in the town centre since the new lights were installed.
He will now be asking Swansea Council to think again.

“I have been told that the sequencing of the lights has been botched,” he said.

Swansea Cork Ferry a step closer PDF Print E-mail

NEWS that the ferry linking Swansea to Cork may soon be sailing back into both ports has been welcomed by Conservative AM Alun Cairns.

The global economic recession has resulted in a drop in shipping and a reduction in the price of new and second hand ships. The Port of Cork Company is now actively looking for a suitable vessel and a spokesman has said it was hoped to get the service up and running in time for this summer’s tourist season.

Meeting to plan action on Sand Dredging PDF Print E-mail

Local Conservatives, Byron Davies and Tory AM Alun Cairns have organised a meeting with local representatives from across Gower to plan a course of action to tackle the growing threat posed by dredging operations off the Gower coast. The meeting has been arranged at Port Eynon Community Hall on Monday 12th January at 7pm.

Alun Cairns, AM for South Wales West and Gower Parliamentary Candidate,Byron Davies, have arranged a meeting with Community Councils and action groups across Gower to discuss the problem of sand loss from Gower beaches.
