NEWS that a new high-speed ferry is going to link Swansea with Ilfracombe has been welcomed by regional Conservative AM Alun Cairns.
"Coming on top of the decision to re-start the Swansea to Cork ferry, this is fantastic," he said. "The better links that Swansea has, the more people will visit the area and boost local businesses. I hope that the new service to the West Country will not only benefit tourism, bringing people both ways, but will also create new trading links across the Bristol Channel.
"In the past, there was a lot of traffic between the ports on both sides of the channel and it is possible that businesses based on either side could link up and even create some new jobs." "Swansea has always been a port and it's nice to see that its seafaring traditions are being brought into the 21st century with these new ferry services." |
