It’s been a busy two years for Alun since he was selected as the Parliamentary candidate for the Vale of Glamorgan. Alun narrowly lost the seat in 2005 and has spent the last few years working hard in the community to try to win the support of local people. He has been doing what he can to improve the lives of Vale residents individually or in aiding community campaigns. We asked him what drives him. “I get angry by injustices or when bureaucracy stands in place of serving people. Making a difference in these areas is my primary focus.” “I was disappointed when I narrowly lost the Vale in 2005 but was delighted when I was re-selected as the Vale Conservative Candidate. I felt like I had been given a second chance.” “Since that time I have worked in the community, doing what I can to help people. I have been involved in individual cases across a range of topics from the poor Ambulance cover in some parts of the Vale to simply standing up where there has been a mistake or injustice in a public service. I have also been involved in a range of campaigns from Barry regeneration to community planning matters.”“I was able to help break the bureaucratic deadlock that was stopping a new Health Centre in Barry, I have been involved in the discussions over the Defence Training Academy at St Athan and have helped hundreds of people with cases they didn’t feel their MP would take up.” “I believe everyone should be able to ask their MP for help.If I win support at the next election, Vale residents can be assured that I will always put individuals first.” |
