Alun Cairns MP has congratulated Cowbridge Charter Trust on their success in scooping a prestigious environmental and community award, as part of the 2013 Biffa Awards.
The ‘Children’s Outdoor Story-telling Circle’ project, run by the Cowbridge Charter Trust, was named winner of the ‘Small Grants’ category for their dedicated work to improve the area through the installation of the story-telling facility. As a category winner they received £2,000 in prize money to further develop their project.
Mr Cairns said:
“This award is fantastic news for the project. Following they bid for a grant in 2012 the Cowbridge CharterTrust purchased and installed a story telling chair, and nine three-seater benches to be used as an outdoor classroom and meeting place for local children, parents and story tellers.
“The Trust has been dedicated in the work not only to improve the area, but has really involved the local community – inspiring volunteers as well as creating a fantastic experience for visitors.
“I hope I am able to visit the Circle in the very near future.”
