Vale MP Alun Cairns said: “Abolishing plans for car parking charges is a fantastic victory for people power – over 100 small businesses, and 7,000 residents were against these plans. The Vale Council were determined to slip this policy through without consulting residents and traders. We campaigned to drag the local authority to the table to hear concerns from local people that would be hit by such a damaging policy. I pay credit to the communities of Barry and Cowbridge for winning the battle against such poorly drafted proposals from the Vale Council that was solely aimed at raising revenue and not helping our communities.”
