The new Ewenny Bridge opened at 7pm last Friday with Vale MP Alun Cairns welcoming the news. The road, a key artery in the Western Vale, had originally been due to remain closed until October, but Mr Cairns worked with Network rail to reduce the project time to a four month closure rather than six.
Mr Cairns said: “I am pleased that the residents and traders in St Brides Major and the surrounding towns and villages can now benefit from improved traffic flow. I worked hard to shave two months off the project timings, and will continue to support the traders. We visited the bridge while the tarmac was still warm, and on Friday evening my team visited local residents and traders to inform them that the bridge had reopened.”
