Vale MP Alun Cairns recently welcomed members of Llantwit Major Rotary Club to the Houses of Parliament.
The group met their local MP as they arrived at Westminster, before they were taken on a tour of the Houses of Parliament.
On completing the tour of the House of Commons and House of Lords the group had a chance to quiz the Vale MP before taking their seats in the public gallery of the House of Commons Chamber to listen to some Health related Oral Questions.
Mr Cairns explained:
“I was delighted to be able to welcome the group from Llantwit Major to Westminster.
“I was also able to secure tickets to the public gallery area in the Chamber where they watched part of the Health debate.
“I am very proud to be able to share this wonderful historic building with constituents and try my best to accommodate all requests. I was delighted this week to hear that we have welcomed 35 visits in the last year. The Parliamentary education service aims to inform, engage and empower people to understand, and get involved in Parliament, politics and democracy.
“If any group or school is interested in visiting, I hope they will contact me.
Mr Dave Lane, Llantwit Major Rotary said:
“I would on behalf of the group to thank Mr Cairns for this opportunity and for spending time with us. We were particularly enthralled by the lively debate in the Chamber – the atmosphere of which would not have been reflected if we had watched on television.
“The group were also very pleased to be able to personally congratulate Mr Cairns on his promotion to the No. 10 Policy Board during our Q&A session at the end of the tour.”
