Fourteen year old Nils Langlois from Troes recently completed a week’s work experience in the local MPs constituency office in Barry.
Vale MP said that he was extremely impressed with Nils, who reminded him of William Hague who addressed the Conservative Party conference at the same age.
Alun Cairns and his team have welcomed a host of students over the last few years to gain experience in the Barry constituency and Westminster offices.
Alun Cairns MP said:
“It was a delight to welcome Nils to the constituency office. He was quite amazing with his support and research. Nils assisted with a very large mail out and data entry as well as helping with general office tasks.
“I think it’s really important that businesses and public sector organisations support pupils in gaining work and life experience of their work placement modules from schools and colleges.
“There’s no substitute for students to get first-hand experience whilst they’re still in education – it can often help spark a career interest or simply provide an opportunity to get an insight into what employment is like.
Nils, 14, added, “I really enjoyed my time in the constituency office. The MP’s job is so varied; from raising matters with the Prime Minister, through to helping individual constituents on housing or health matters.
