Vale MP Alun Cairns has welcomed the planning decision to allow the potential return of a fairground to Barry Island Pleasure Park. Mr Cairns is now calling on the parties to finalise an agreement on outstanding issues that will allow a fairground to be open in time for Easter and into the summer.
Mr Cairns has been in regular dialogue with site owners, the Barry Island Property Company, and operator Henry Danter following the decision by the planners last Thursday to grant planning permission for a residential and commercial development on a small part of the site.
Mr Cairns said: “I am pleased that a significant planning hurdle has now been overcome, but now is the time to draw a final agreement to get Mr Danter on site in good time in the next few days. Time is pressing to make the most of the summer season on Barry Island, and I am encouraging the parties to work out a suitable plan.”
