Update from Royal Mail on the availability of home Covid testing kits:
"As you will be aware, there has been a significant increase in demand for the home delivery of NHS COVID test kits across the UK. Talk of distribution issues may have caused concern to your constituents. I am, therefore, writing to update you on what steps Royal Mail has taken so that you may be able to offer reassurances to your community.
We have been in regular contact with the UK Health Security Agency regarding the increased demand this week. At their request we are extending capacity, doubling the number of kits we can deliver daily. We have no capacity issues for this vital work.
Every day we service hundreds of thousands of test kits on behalf of the NHS. We continue to prioritise test kits for delivery and collection including the 35,000 priority postboxes and Sunday collections from over 15,000 priority postboxes.
Royal Mail employees are proud to play a vital role in the national response to the pandemic. We will continue to support the NHS and other agencies in any way we can."
