As Welsh unemployment falls faster than the UK as a whole, the Vale of Glamorgan is certainly not being left behind.
Figures released today show that unemployment in Wales has fallen at a considerably faster rate than the rest of the UK, and that Wales has seen a larger increase in employment than any other region.
New ONS statistics show that 4.3% of Welsh people were out of work for the quarter up to and including June, against 4.8% in the previous period while unemployment at a UK level is slightly higher, at 4.9%.
Commenting on the figures, Vale MP and Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns said: "The Vale of Glamorgan is an ideal example of how the UK Government's long-term economic plan is delivering growth in all areas of the UK, especially those with a lower income per capita.
"It is fantastic news that unemployment in Wales is at its lowest level for more than a decade, and I want to make sure that this continues to be reflected in the Vale of Glamorgan.
This promising decrease in unemployment figures, especially amongst the Vale's 18-24 year olds, demonstrates growing confidence in the local economy and a positive boost to our community."
