The plans confirming the downgrading of services and access to libraries across the Vale of Glamorgan were rubber stamped by the local authority on Monday (9th). Vale MP Alun Cairns has described the consultation process as “flawed” and criticised the council for not giving enough consideration to the role that libraries hold in child literacy and learning.
Welsh Baccalaureate pupils from Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School in Barry quizzed Vale MP Alun Cairns about the major issues affecting Barry this week. Mr Cairns met with pupils to discuss Barry Island re-generation, 3G sports pitches in the area and gauged opinion on co-educational schooling in the town.
Vale MP Alun Cairns has described the 3.9% increase in council tax announced by the Vale of Glamorgan council as “astonishing”. The increase is eight times the Bank of England rate of inflation (0.5% Dec 2014), and the Vale MP has criticised the council for not reassessing levels of spending before putting up bills.
