Attracting investment to the Vale of Glamorgan has been, and continues to be, a priority for me. A priority for me is boosting the local economy, securing jobs for local people, and welcoming new businesses to the area. Coming out of the pandemic it is now more important than ever to ensure our high streets thrive.
Our Local Economy
- Supporting our local independent shops and small and medium size businesses.
- The Labour-ran Welsh Government fail to pass on all the money given by the UK Treasury to local businesses, this is unfair. The Labour-ran Welsh Government have cut business rate relief. In England, businesses get a 75% rate relief but in Wales that is just 40%. This is adding thousands of pounds to the bills of businesses in Labour-ran Wales.
- Improving local transport links and supporting our local economy by encouraging people to shop locally.
- Welcoming and promoting new businesses to the Vale of Glamorgan is vital and I have secured £20 million for town centre regeneration to enable our high streets to thrive.
