This year I will be running the 2017 London Marathon to fundraise for two fantastic charities:
Heads Together and Age Connects, including the Friends and Neighbours Group.
I am hoping to raise many thousands of pounds this year - allowing the charities to help people across the Vale of Glamorgan.
I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

Heads Together:
The Heads Together campaign aims to change the national conversation for everyone on mental health and will be a partnership with inspiring charities with decades of experience in tackling stigma, raising awareness and providing vital help for people with mental health challenges.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry are spearheading the new campaign to end stigma around mental health.
Heads Together is working to help people find the mental health support they need, when they need it. Heads Together will support development of innovative projects to bring together the exceptional skills and expertise of our partner charities and others, to get more help to more people.
Age Connects:
Older people can be particularly vulnerable to social isolation or loneliness owing to loss of friends and family, mobility or income. This can leave them all alone to face the uncertainties that old age often brings without family or friends to help. It can be a terrible and frightening experience to see no-one for days on end with little social interaction. This is where the Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale Senior Health Shop (SHS), Café and Friends and Neighbours Group can offer a lifeline.
The SHS on Barry’s Holton Road is a not only a place to socialise, make new friends and have a cuppa but is also a one stop centre for information with volunteers and staff on hand to answer queries you might have. What’s more, activities such as exercise classes, computers training, stitching and knitting sessions, health checks, quizzes and afternoon teas all take place regularly.
Many lonely and isolated people also find the popular Friends and Neighbours social group invaluable. The group offers trips, local lunches, as well as monthly meetings at Beryl Road Pioneer Hall in Barry.
Both the Age Connects Senior Health Shop and Friends and Neighbours Group are priceless for so many people who rely on the vital contact they offer. They truly keep the community spirit of Barry alive and well!
