Vale MP Alun Cairns said “I visited the newly opened Eastern Promenade on the day of the opening. I welcome the opening, although I am sorry it wasn’t available during the summer months. The new area could be a welcome boost to the eastern side of Barry Island and it will improve an area that was in desperate need of regeneration. I hope the beach huts will be used to provide an economic boost, but I remain concerned that the local authority doesn’t appear to have clear plans for the huts. There is obviously concern over the delay and cost, but we can leave those questions for another day.
“I am encouraging visitors to come and see the new facility, and support the traders. Barry Island can be the major regional sea front resort in South Wales, I am determined that we will make it the flagship destination and the Eastern Promenade is a building block in that plan.
