Vale MP Alun Cairns attended a coffee morning in Barry in support of Breakthrough Breast Cancer this week. The busy event was organised by Deborah Griffiths from Barclays and a team of volunteers.
Mrs Griffiths organised the event with the help of the Top 2 Toe exercise class with homemade cakes, refreshments and raffles all contributing to the fundraising effort. Barclays supported the event by agreeing to match fund monies raised on the day.
Mr Cairns said: “It was very enjoyable to have a cup of tea and cake with so many people from the local community at such a well organised and attended event at St David’s Church Hall. The stalls were very busy all morning, and it is great news that Deborah has worked with Barclays to provide match funding for the monies raised at the event. Not only do events like these provide much needed fundraising, it also gives the community an opportunity to provide active support for those around them undergoing treatment.”
