A campaign to raise £30,000 for a life changing operation has been launched by the parents of Palmerston Primary pupil Niamh Hurn with the backing of Vale MP Alun Cairns. Mum Michelle and dad Chris plan to raise the funds for the operation that will allow Niamh to walk unaided before the eight year-old reaches the age of 10.
The Hurn family currently take Niamh to receive treatment at the nearest specialist centre in Bristol for a rare form of cerebral palsy, with funding unavailable on the NHS in Wales.
Mr Cairns said: “Niamh has such a wonderful character, and is a popular pupil at Palmerston Primary. I was delighted to meet Michelle and Niamh to learn more about the possibilities of the life changing operation. It is very impressive that over £1,400 has been raised, and the family continue to gather pledges of support from the local community.”
