Barry schoolboy Jack Rees-Davies received a surprise letter this week after local MP Alun Cairns delivered a personal note from the Prime Minster David Cameron.
Palmerston primary pupil Jack raised over £1000 for the Marie Curie hospice in Penarth. The money was raised in memory of his father Martin Rees-Davies by selling loom bands he made with his friend Dan Quigley. Jack made three special loom bands for the Prime Minister who received them personally. A letter of thanks was sent by Mr Cameron to recognise the effort made by jack and his friends in raising so much money for Marie Curie.
Mr Cairns said: “Jack and his friends have made such a contribution to the fundraising efforts for Marie Curie locally. I know the Prime Minister was delighted to have received the three specially made loom bands.
“It was a privilege to present Jack with a personal letter from David Cameron.
“I still have my very own loom band that I wear in Westminster, and will be taking Jack and his family for a tour of Parliament later this year. I encourage any youngsters that have an idea for fundraising in the local community to go for it.”
