Vale MP Alun Cairns has issued a call to the Post Office to push Cowbridge to the top of the urgent list, after learning that a final site for a new Post Office in Cowbridge has yet to be identified. Mr Cairns has now called on the Post Office to prioritise the process to ensure that the facility reopens in Cowbridge as quickly as possible.
Mr Cairns met with a representative from the Post Office at his constituency office in Barry to express his anger that Cowbridge has been without a facility since April of this year. Despite being given an ‘autumn’ timeline several weeks ago, Mr Cairns is now urging all parties to achieve a resolution to the long running saga.
Mr Cairns said: “The current situation is exasperating. I am grateful to the Post Office for meeting with me to give a full update, but I have insisted in no uncertain terms that they get the Cowbridge branch open again urgently. They need to identify a suitable site, so I am calling on all involved to place a top priority on getting the facility back open so that the disruption to local residents and traders can end. This is a hugely important facility, and I am pressing hard for a resolution to a problem that is causing major problems for the local community.”
As an interim solution, the Post Office has linked up with Greenlinks Rural Community Transport to provide two minibuses providing transport to Post Office branches in Llantwit Major and Bridgend. The minibuses run several times a day and can be booked by calling 0800 294 1113.
