Vale MP Alun Cairns has written to businesses in the Vale of Glamorgan in an effort to encourage support for an event that will see 100 school children lay 100 wreaths in November. The event is being organised by the Royal British Legion at a special remembrance service on November 7th at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery in Barry.
Mr Cairns wants to see Barry hold the special event to remember those lost in conflict during the First World War, and has been encouraged by the response so far from local organisations.
Mr Cairns said: “Many excellent events were held earlier in the year, but I am mindful that many children could have been away on holiday. That is why I am supporting the event by asking local businesses to sponsor a wreath. We will ask 100 local schoolchildren to lay a wreath and it will act as a powerful display of remembrance.”
Businesses can support the event by purchasing a single wreath for £20 by contacting the office of Alun Cairns MP on 01446 403 814.
