Investment in new jobs at Tarmac's Aberthaw Cement Plant shows the company's commitment to the local area and economy.
Ten new posts have been created and filled at the works, including new starters from the local community.
This follows the completion of a £2 million investment programme last year to upgrade processes and equipment at the over a hundred year old plant, to update production capabilities for the 21st century.
Aberthaw Cement Plant Manager, Chris Bradbury, said, “We are committed to continuing our long history of cement production in Aberthaw, and are investing in both the infrastructure at the plant and in our workforce to do that.
“We are delighted to welcome our new starters to the plant and they are integral to our planning for the future.”
Vale of Glamorgan MP, Alun Cairns, visited the plant to see the results of the investment programme and meet some of
the new starters.
Mr Cairns said, “I was delighted to have had the opportunity to meet the new recruits from Rhoose and St Athan at Aberthaw Cement Plant. The site at Aberthaw has a long record of providing attractive employment opportunities for Vale residents.
“The continued investment is a clear statement of commitment to the Vale and I wish the new recruits the best of luck in their new roles.”
Additional investment is planned at the works this year to further improve performance.
