Vale MP Alun Cairns visited a target archery club at St. Richard Gwyn High School in Barry to meet the junior and senior sections of the club coached by Archery GB coaches.
The club meets twice a week and offers both indoor and outdoor shooting up to a range of 90 metres.
Simon Miskin, club chairman of Caerau Dragon Bowmen, said: “Archery is a truly inclusive sport and our Vale of Glamorgan club is accessible for people of all ages and abilities. We regularly have visiting archers from other clubs one of which is a former British International Archer and British Champion.”
Mr Cairns, who tested his hand-eye co-ordination when he had a go at shooting a bow, said: “The group in Barry run a fantastic club, and the sport requires a tremendous amount of skill and a steady hand. It is so pleasing to see people from across the Vale develop their talent with the help of such knowledgeable coaches for such a technically demanding sport.”
