Vale MP Alun Cairns has praised the organisers of MacMillan Coffee mornings across the Vale for their work to raise money for cancer patients, and for bringing the community together.
The MP visited coffee mornings in Llantwit Major, Cowbridge , Dinas Powys and Barry on Friday 30th September, the date of MacMillan’s UK-wide ‘world’s biggest coffee morning.
Mr Cairns said, “I was delighted to be able to attend four of the many MacMillan coffee mornings held throughout the Vale on Friday. It is always fantastic to see local people coming together for a good cause.
“Having run the London Marathon for MacMillan, I have had a chance to gain an insight into their work and see the difference they make for those suffering with cancer.
“Of all the coffee mornings held across the UK that day, I doubt any had as good a view as the Soroptomists on Barry Island, who had cleverly rented two of the new beach huts for their hot drinks and cake stands.”
