Local MP and Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns, joined Ladbrokes colleagues in his local shop on Broad Street, to congratulate the team for raising £500+ for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Ladbrokes charitable efforts were inspired after sadly losing a colleague, Jade Brooks to cancer last year. Jade was only 23 years old when she was diagnosed and treated at the Heath Hospital but sadly lost her battle. As a respected and well-liked member of the team at Ladbrokes, it seemed natural for the Area Manager, Val Brown to want to work alongside Jade’s parents and the Teenage Cancer Trust to raise money in memory of Jade. Colleagues of Jade, Customer Service Managers Corrine Louch & David Lawler (pictured) were instrumental in raising nearly £1500 in Jades’ memory. A remembrance bench has been placed in Porth Kerry Park Barry (pictured) and the remainder donated to Teenage Cancer Trust in University Hospital of Wales.
During his visit the local MP, Alun Cairns said, “Jade’s passing was a tragedy for everyone who knew her. I am very impressed at the way that Corrine and her colleagues at Ladbrokes have managed to achieve something positive from their collective grief, with both a dedicated bench to remember Jade and a sizable donation to charity.”
Ladbrokes Area Manager Val Brown said, “It’s a privilege to provide this money to the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Jade and I hope it assists other young sufferers in their battle against this disease”.
Jade’s parents Mark & Tania were pleased their daughter had touched the lives of so many people and grateful for the funds raised in Jades’ name to help others. They stated the bench is a lovely idea and situated in a beautiful place where fond memories of Jade will live on.
