Local MP Alun Cairns has welcomed the news that unemployment has fallen in the Vale of Glamorgan according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics.
The number of unemployed claimants in the Vale of Glamorgan constituency in August 2014 was 1,546, a claimant count of 3.3%.
The number of claimants is 472 lower than at the same point last year. The latest figure published for August 2014 is 3.3% for the economically active population aged 16 to 64.
Mr Cairns said: “It is great news that news that unemployment continues to fall in the Vale of Glamorgan. We are now entering a sustained period of recovery and the government will stick to the long term economic plan. I am encouraged by the confidence being shown by local businesses investing in growth and job creation.”
