Vale MP Alun Cairns, Andrew RT Davies AM and Llantwit Councillor Tony Bennett met with representatives of NatWest on Tuesday to express concern about closure proposals of the branch in Llantwit Major.
Mr Cairns said: “I am very concerned about the potential loss of the NatWest branch in Llantwit. I met with the bank on Tuesday, and called on them to reconsider the plans. Llantwit Major is thriving as a town, despite having lost a number of bank branches over the past few years. Technology is changing how we all bank, but I want to ensure that the service is available for those who need it in Llantwit Major.
“We had a positive meeting and asked them look again at the figures used to justify the closure. We were pleased to hear arrangements have been made with the Post Office in Filco, and we will continue to press for NatWest to ensure that all options for service extension have been explored.”
