Welsh Cardiac Crisis Must Be Addressed

Barry and Vale MP Alun Cairns Welcomed the latest Government figures which showed that fewer people in South Wales were being diagnosed with coronary heart disease, but stressed that Cardiff Bay Ministers had to do more to address the crisis in Cardiac care. 

UK National Citizen Service Launches in Barry and the Vale

The UK National Citizen Service (NCS) was launched in Wales last week and will be open to young people in Barry and across the Vale of Glamorgan. Local MP Alun Cairns is calling for applications to be made online or over the phone via ‘Engage 4 Life.’

Fly Tipping Near Wenvoe Quarry Causes Serious Threat

Local MP Alun Cairns has called on the Vale Council to act against Fly tipping near Wenvoe Quarry, which is posing a threat to animals, children and the environment.Local residents contacted Alun Cairns to help resolve the on-going situation where Fly-tipping has become a common occurrence in their area. They have previously had little success when they contacted the Vale Council.

Fun in the Sun in Llandow Village Fete

Last Saturday Llandow hosted their annual summer fete in their local village hall.The day was held in glorious sunshine, accompanied by stalls, homemade food, a valuable auction and a raffle. Local MP Alun Cairns attended and said that he felt that every villager had turned out it was so packed. Local residents were entertained with a host of fun and games, including tug of war and a competition to build towers from marsh mallows and cocktail sticks!

Family Fun Day A Great Success

Last Saturday Barry Rugby Football Club hosted their annual Family Fun Day. The event was held in support for ‘Blisse’s Journey’, a charitable group which helps a local young girl called Bliss who suffers from two very rare brain conditions.

Kiddie Winkles

Last week local MP Alun Cairns joined Kiddie Winkles Nursery to help celebrate their sixth birthday party. Kiddie Winkles is a community based children’s nursery based at in Crossways Methodist Church.

Local MP Becomes Minister

Local MP Alun Cairns has been made a Wales Office Minister and a Government Whip by the Prime Minister, making him the first MP from Barry or the Vale to play a part in government since before the days of Sir Raymond Gower in 1951 or Dorothy Rees DBE in 1950. 

Constituents’ Tour of Westminster

Local MP Alun Cairns recently welcomed a coach tour of constituents from Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan to Westminster to Parliament last week.

Vale MP Alun Cairns was pleased at the news that his nomination of Barry Beavers Disabled Swimming Club has been short-listed for the next stage of the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014.

Shampan is Highly Commended in the Tiffin Cup 2014

The Shampan restaurant from Vale of Glamorgan has been Highly Commended in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition. Unfortunately, Shampan wasn’t selected to represent its region in the Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2014.
